Don't be afraid to sell yourself! Your resume is your personal advertisement.
Have you ever seen an ad on TV that just lists the boring facts about a product? No, because that would be a waste of money. People are bored by facts. The hiring manager must understand from your resume what benefits you will bring to their organization.
What's the difference between a feature and a benefit?
"Performed five business reengineering projects that resulted in savings of $2 million," is a feature.
"I bring in-depth business reengineering experience to XYZ Company that will revitalize inefficient processes and save the company money, in the same manner that I've saved other organizations $2 million in five different projects," is a benefit.
Tip 4
You might be very professional in your conduct, but if there are spelling mistakes or glaring grammatical errors in your resume you will immediately be seen as sloppy and careless.
